“I think the work of which I am most proud is Children of Eden…there are more of the themes that I return to over and over – personal responsibility, rebellion, intellectual independence, as well as overcoming family dysfunctions – in this work than in any of my other shows…it has become a viable and often performed piece that I know will live on after I’m gone.” –Stephen Schwartz

Book by  John Caird  Music by  Stephen Schwartz  Lyrics by  Stephen Schwartz  Based on a concept by Charles Lisanby

Discription from Music Theatre International website:

From Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked", "Godspell" and "Pippin") and John Caird of "Les Miserables" comes a joyous and inspirational musical about parents, children and faith... not to mention centuries of unresolved family business!  Freely based on the story of Genesis, "Children Of Eden" is a frank, heartfelt and often humorous examination of the age-old conflict between parents and children. Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet but inspiring message: that "the hardest part of love... is letting go."
